Hepatitis C and treatment What happens if I test positive, and how did I get it? Studies we are participating in |
Everyone who comes to the AVI Health Centre for methadone treatment is required
to have a liver function blood test that is performed at a local lab. Testing for HIV,
Hepatitis C, B and A, Syphilis and other fuctions are included in the initial work up. All lab results
are reviewed by both the physician and hepatitis C support nurse, and all abnormal and/or positive
results and treatment options are discussed in detail with patients. We provide hepatitis C information, support and treatment to all our patients who may require it if they fit the criteria, and to others who have been infected through IV drug use. We offer leading edge Direct Observable Treatment (DOT) and are involved in a medical study with 2 other clinics; The Coolaid Health Center in Victoria, and the Pender Street Clinic in the downtown east side of Vancouver. |
