- HI Lo Study - Dr. B. Conway - Downtown Infectious Diseases Clinic, Vancouver B.C.
Study Rationale: "Evaluation of a Multi-Disciplinary Approach for the Treatment of Hepatitis C in Injection Drug User’s."
In some Canadian tertiary care centres, patients must be free of drug use for more than 6 months before being considered for HCV therapy. This is not consistent
with current North American clinical guidelines. Strategies shown to improve adherence include directly-observed therapy,
cash incentives, and comprehensive case management. Study coordinators will compare high and low intensity multidisciplinary
care delivery program for the treatment of HCV genotype 2 or 3 with respect to cost and health-related quality of life, using standardized
methodologies.
- PEGETRON REDIPEN Observational Program - Schering Canada Inc.
Study Rationale: "Compliance is a key success factor in obtaining the full benefit of PEGETRON
therapy for patients. The introduction of an adherence program/compliance program with an improved delivery
system: REDIPEN (A Redipen is a disposable self-injectable dosing system) should have a postive impact on
patient's compliance and treatment outcome."
"In this observational study, PEGERTRON Hypothesizes that the use of the PEGETRON REDIPEN, a new and improved delivery system will improve
compliance and increase the number of patients with a sustained viral response, defined as an absence of HCV-RNA in serum, 6 months following end of
treatment."
